Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens Sony E Mount

Sigma looked to create a peak portrait prime with the 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens, and they delivered an optic with high performance, a large f/1.4 aperture, and a variety of technologies. Available here with a Sony E mount, this lens offers a super-fast f/1.4 aperture that is great for getting images with an exceptionally shallow depth of field and smooth bokeh. It also uses two SLD elements, one anomalous partial dispersion/high-refractive index element, and one aspherical element that minimize aberrations and ensures a crisp, clear image. A Super Multi-Layer coating helps by suppressing flare and ghosting.

Jacob O. ★★★★★

I've been using this lens for portrait sessions and the autofocus locks on reliably even in dim light. The f/1.4 aperture lets me shoot wide open without worrying about sharpness falling off. It's become my go-to for client work.

Sofia ★★★★★

Shot my first wedding with it this weekend and the f/1.4 bokeh at 85mm is just ridiculous—backgrounds melt into butter while the subject stays tack sharp. The HSM focus motor is quiet and fast enough for candid moments, though it’s a beast to haul around all day.

Sophia T. ★★★★★

The autofocus locks onto eyes incredibly fast, even in low light. This lens renders skin tones beautifully at f/1.4 with that classic sharpness. It's quickly become my go-to for all my portrait sessions.
