Compare the Fujifilm X-T30 and X-T200 to find the right mirrorless camera for your needs, from sensor performance to ease of use.
Quick answer
For serious stills and faster performance, choose the Fujifilm X-T30; for a more budget-friendly, user-friendly entry into mirrorless, choose the X-T200.
Sensor and performance: the key difference
The Fujifilm X-T30 borrows its 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor from the premium X-T3, paired with the X-Processor 4 for fast, high-quality stills. The X-T200 features a newer sensor and processor combo that improves image quality and performance over its predecessor, but it targets a different audience—those stepping up from a smartphone.
If you prioritize advanced autofocus and high-resolution stills, the X-T30 gives you more headroom. If you are new to interchangeable-lens cameras and want a lighter, more intuitive experience, the X-T200 is the more approachable pick.
Ease of use vs. control
The X-T200 is designed to entice more users to try interchangeable lens photography, with a focus on simplicity and portability. The X-T30, while still compact, packs more advanced controls and performance into its body, appealing to enthusiasts who want room to grow.
Consider how much control you want over your camera settings. The X-T30 offers more direct access to key functions, while the X-T200 leans on automation and guided menus.
Trade-offs to consider
- Image quality vs. price: The X-T30's higher-resolution sensor and faster processor deliver superior stills but cost more. The X-T200 offers good image quality at a lower price, making it a better value for beginners. If budget is tight and you are new to mirrorless, the X-T200 is the safer start.
- Performance vs. simplicity: The X-T30 is built for speed and control, appealing to those who want to grow their skills. The X-T200 prioritizes ease of use, with guided menus and a lighter body. Choose the X-T30 if you want more advanced features; pick the X-T200 if you want a friendlier learning curve.
- Kit lens included: Both come with kit lenses: the X-T30 with an 18-55mm lens and the X-T200 with a 15-45mm lens. The X-T30's lens is a step up in quality, while the X-T200's is more compact and versatile for travel. Consider the lens coverage you need—18-55mm offers a classic range, while 15-45mm starts wider.
